Get in the Spirit – World Cup 2010
Let’s talk numbers. 32 proud countries from 6 confederations. 10 venues in 9 South African cities. $420 million set aside by FIFA as total prize money, and an estimated 2.2 billion fans all around the world watching these matches.
Here’s one number that maybe you didn’t know. Zakumi, the official mascot of the World Cup this year, as well as Cape Town’s finest green-haired leopard, celebrates his sixteenth birthday today (80th if we were talking leopard years, but 16 is so much sweeter). This adventurous little guy will be sure to turn the South Africa vs. Uruguay game today into his own unforgettable birthday bash, hopefully with a win for his homeland!
As for number one in the rankings of the 32 World Cup finalists, that would be Brazil. But that doesn’t mean anything! This major tournament is anyone’s game, as long as it’s “fair play” in the words of Zakumi. So are you rooting for the defending champs, Italy? Or are you hoping for a breakthrough from an underdog like New Zealand? Keep faith in your team and show how patriotic you can be by representing your country of choice until July 11th, the final game.
These shoes, K-Swiss K Ona S, would be a great start to sporting your pride for a country, coming in styles for both men and women. Check them out at Shoebuy today!
