Inhabited Chair: Thoughts on the Inauguration
Main Story: President Obama’s Inauguration
There are a few thoughts I would like to share with you on President Obama’s recent inauguration.
- Although there was nothing groundbreaking in his speech (the event itself was groundbreaking, of course) there were some good lessons.
- He spoke of how difficult our journey would be and stressed how much hard work it would take to overcome our current crisis. It is important we don’t fool ourselves into thinking anything will be easy, that only leads to failure.
- He talked about the size of government and how that was irrelevant. We should be measuring efficiency, not size. Although I tend to believe that “the government who governs least, governs best” he does have a point. The government can do some things correctly. It will be interesting to see how he measures efficiency.
- A quote from President Obama on American supremacy: “They [earlier generations] understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.”
- Overall it was good inaugural speech that looked toward the future with hope and a bit of advice.
Shoe Thoughts of the week:
Guys, if you’re looking for a nice dress shoe, you can’t miss with the Børn Aden, by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever tried, and it is a slip-on which saves me time as I run to catch the T for work after I sleep through my alarm
Another shoe you can’t miss on, this time for leisure, is Minnetonka Moccasins. They are extremely comfortable and well made. Perfect for lounging in your home or apartment, they keep your feet cozy and warm
For the ladies who are looking for a winter boot that you can be seen wearing in public, the Aerosoles Blue Genes are perfect, fashionable and functional
Non-Shoe thoughts of the week:
- The Eagles lost, it was painful for me to watch but I’m excited about next season. Kurt Warner is a genuine good guy and I hope the Arizona Cardinals beat the Steelers and Anquan Boldin doesn’t ruin this for the team.
- Two reasons I’m excited about the Eagles season next year; 1. Steve Spagnuolo is out of the NFC East, I say this out of respect for Mr. Spagnuolo. For those who don’t know, he trained under the Eagle’s defensive coordinator, Jim Johnson. He always knows the right plays to call and gives the Eagle’s offense fits. 2. The Eagles have two first round draft picks.
- It’s going to be a good next four years.
