Spring into the New Trends of 2010

Spring

It may just be this recent warm snap up here in the Northeast, but Spring is definitely upon us! In addition to the imminent pollen, the latest trends are in the air! These new styles range from sweet, to daring, to controversial, but what a better way to start off the new season than with a little bit of excitement?

“Cute” Clogs:

The first on our hit list of warmer weather trends is also the most questionable.  This fad was kicked off when Chanel began featuring “chic” clogs on the runway for their Spring collection, and the idea has propagated since then.  Playing off some of the current sixties and seventies-inspired clothing styles, cute clogs are the perfect way to finish off that true Flower Child look.  And if the mere thought of clogs gets you thinking of orthopedic shoes, don’t worry, these latest styles try hard to keep fashion in mind!

Embellished Platforms:

If you still want a daring sense of style for this spring, but are worried that clogs may someday be consider a faux-pas, then platformed heels may be the way to go!  This season, almost every heel is featuring a platform at the front of the shoe, which has the HUGE benefit of making heels that much more comfortable and easy to walk in.  Think of it: four inch heels, plus a one inch platform is just about the equivalent ease of 3 inch heels.  Some of these platforms are designed to blend into the front of the shoe, but the latest fad is to make them the focal point of the heel with different colors, materials and textures.

Not-Your-Average Neutrals:

Still, if you are looking to play it on the even safer side this Spring, you should try this season’s new twist on neutrals.  It’s the details that kick these beiges and tans up another notch, and because the color blends in, it’s the embellishments that will get these shoes noticed.  Plus, the ever-enduring benefit of neutrals is that they go with everything.  Whether it be other basics, brights, patterns, or anything else you can think of, you will always have a fabulous pair of shoes to match.

I hope you are all enjoying this new warm weather as much as I am!  Happy shopping!
