St. Patty’s Day with O’Shoebuy
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Whether you are Irish or not, everybody can celebrate St. Patrick’s day. Did you know Saint Patrick himself wasn’t even from Ireland? He was actually born in England!
The United States has a tradition of painting the country green every March 17th, whether it is with celebratory parades, green clothing, or even dying rivers and streets!
Seattle and other cities paint the traffic stripe of their parade routes kelly green. Taking it a step further, Missouri mops 12 blocks with green paint before its annual parade.
Then there is Savannah, where if you go downtown, you’ll see the city water fountain spurting an unusual green water. But the biggest dedication goes to Chicago. Every year since 1962, the city dyes the Chicago river a vibrant green using 40 pounds of vegetable dye. You think I’m kidding?

All this work to show green on St. Patty’s day… perhaps the most ironic part is that in Ireland, the color associated with Saint Patrick used to be blue! It can be seen on old Irish flags.
But with today’s customs, sporting green with clothing and other items is the way to go on this day. And traditionally if you are caught not doing so, you are pinched affectionately. Here are some great ideas from Shoebuy.
